1975 Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus For Sale in Savusavu, Fiji.
Looking for something unique? Do you need an adventure? I am looking for someone to keep the wanderlust alive concerning my sailboat. SV Guava Jelly is a 1975 Hallberg-Rassy Rasmus 35 located in Fiji. I am the second owner of this boat and I have purchased her in Seattle in 2001 (the deal actually closed on 9/11). The original owner purchased her from the builder in Sweden and had her shipped to the NW to be finished. When I got her she had never been out of the NW waters and was in excellent condition. I rigged her for offshore sailing and continued to make improvements while sailing in the Pacific.
In 2003 I sailed north to Canadian waters and circled Vancouver Island as a shakedown cruise and in 2004 sailed out of Puget Sound for the last time. Over the next decade Guava Jelly and I traveled south along the Pacific Coast of the Americas, visiting most countries before reaching Ecuador and the Galapagos and turning west. The next leg was 3000nm to the Marquesas Islands and then continuing through French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Tonga and to New Zealand. A few seasons there (i paid the import duty so she can live there) and then sailed north to Fiji. She has sailed extensively in Fiji and is currently moored in Savusavu, Fiji.
The bad news…In February 2016 she suffered some damage in Cyclone Winston. She is a very strong vessel and her hull and superstructure are intact but there was damage to items on deck, caprail, bow and stern pulpits, lifelines and stanchions, dodger and windscreen, etc.
The good news… I am flying to work on her for a month June 19th-July 19th. She has been imported into Fiji, duty tax paid, so there is no time limit on her stay. You don’t have to sail across oceans, spending time, worrying about weather, etc. She is already in paradise. Also there is an extensive list of equipment including a tender, surfboard, dive and snorkel gear, tools, kiteboard, charts, fishing gear, etc. Plus all the installed electronics, autopilot, radar, gps, power windlass, etc.
I am very sad to have to sell her. I am recently a father and my kids are 3yo and 18mo and though my wife and I want to cruise with the kids again (we spent the first year of my 3yo’s life on the boat cruising in Fiji). We are planning to live in South America for a couple of years before getting another boat.
