Back to Savu Savu

We sailed back to Savu Savu. It took us 12 hours. We pulled up the anchor at 8:15 am, and motored into the harbor at 8 pm. It was dark & eerie trying to make out the boats and the empty mooring balls. Luckily Curly was waiting at the mooring ball for us, shining a bright light. I threw him our line & he threaded it through the mooring & threw it back to me. Then Riki made sashimi & we enjoyed it with a micheleda (beer with lots of lemon in it) before falling into bed.

We had lots of wind all day. 20-25 knots (strong wind warning, as we later heard from Curly). And about 7’ of swell. I got to put the headsail up (no roller furler on Guava; you hank the sail to the forestay, tie a bowline at the top, tie bowlines on the sheets, and hoist it up at the mast). Riki caught two fish (more on that later!) I had some nice alone time on the cabintop & also a nap while Wade napped. Wade & Riki played with clothespins on the cockpit floor. Wade had fun & wasn’t hard to entertain.
