Cooking

Turns out I didn’t provision that well when we left Savu Savu. Well, we ran out of meat after a week, and didn’t have that much canned goods. So I was cooking dried beans in the pressure cooker. I made lentil soup 3 times, which was yummy, luckily. I sprouted mung beans and put them on fried rice. I made a version of chana masala. We had pasta with olive oil & garlic & capers & the last tomato. I made a curried red lentil salad. I dry-fried sunflower seeds then put soy sauce on them for a yummy snack.

I was given some sourdough starter by s/v Lady Carolina. So I baked sourdough bread for the first time. I’ve never liked baking at home, but here it’s fun to do. It’s a treat, and I have the time to do it.

s/v Tuuletar gave us several mahi mahi steaks which I made with an Indian curry.

Asifa taught me how to make chai–with powdered milk & tea masala & tea leaves. It’s so yummy!

One annoying thing is that there are bugs in the rice. So you just scoop them out with a spoon after adding water. That’s Riki’s job. And I bought yogurt that wasn’t expired & it was all moldy on top.

Next time I’ll be better prepared with more canned goods on hand.
