The Shifting of Language

One of the reasons we moved here was so that Tomu and Jade could be immersed in Spanish, in the hopes they would begin speaking in Spanish.

While they are still a little shy speaking Spanish with strangers, in the corner store or a restaurant, they speak a ton more Spanish to us, to each other, and at home in general.

Tomu made a friend at school, Jacob, the other boy with long hair. Tomu, so brave, invited him over. A few weekends ago Jacob came over for a playdate (for 5 hours!). Jacob spoke only Spanish and Tomu & Jade spoke a mix of Spanish & English to him.

As I type, Jade is sitting beside me coloring, and she is narrating all in Spanish what she is drawing, and when she wants me to look at her.
