Jade
Jade has been taking an art class on Friday afternoons since February. She absolutely loves it, and she often asks if it is art class day. She also loves to draw and paint at home.

Jade has also make big strides in swimming class: she loves to put her head under the water now, and can blow bubbles while underwater. She still needs to work on following the teachers’ instructions!
Jade can be very focused and very imaginative with her play. Yesterday she tied a rope around her bunny and said, On Belay Bunny? On Belay? She also rides her pretend bike with her bunny to bunny’s swim class.
Lately she has been asking me to repeat to her what she has told me. For example, “what did I say first? What did I say after that?” Which I actually hate, because it feels like a test that I often fail, and I tell her exasperated, I don’t know.
Last night she went with me to the Internet cafe, and sat a computer next to mine that wasn’t on. She was typing on the keys, then reaching up to do the mouse occasionally, just as she saw me doing. It made me smile to see her copying so well.
And finally, Jade has joined Tomu’s 5 and under soccer team. She has only participated in two practices so far, but she says she wants to keep going. The first practice she kept coming over to me in the scrimmage and saying, “I want food”.

Luz
Luz will turn one in 5 days. She finally has teeth—her two bottom teeth are coming in now. She also recently learned to crawl properly, on her hands and knees, instead of pulling herself along on her elbows. She can crawl up and down the stairs. She is a BIG eater, like her mama. She will eat anything. She continues to poop & pee in the potty, and it feels like just recently we have her on a good schedule of 2 naps a day, and no breastfeeding during the night. She loves books, and is starting to copy some sounds we make.

Tomu
Tomu is a board game nut now. His favorite is called Super Banco Ecuador, which is an Ecuadorian version of Monopoly. Although it is a bit mind-numbing, I like playing it with him because it helps Tomu with math skills (making change, etc.) Tomu’s second favorite game is backgammon. He continues to like playing soccer, and has improved a ton since he joined the team. He is also happy that Jade is on his team, and is very encouraging of her skills. He told me the other day that he wanted to go back to Machu Pichu. 🙂 He continues to be a very sweet and kind boy.

Jade can now ride a pedal bike! She has been riding to school for the
past 2 weeks. She still needs help starting and stopping, but she’s
doing great.
Luz on the move. If unattended for a second she heads directly for the stairs.
