Our last few weeks in the U.S. were a whirlwind of packing, cleaning, saying goodbye and getting rid of a lot of stuff. most of the time I was focused on the tasks at hand, but sometimes I would get sad about leaving behind our magical neighborhood, strong community, and dear family. also we celebrated my brother Weston’s 40th birthday camping at Hobuck Beach. and my birthday at the Korean spa with Ma, bubble tea with Kayo, and dinner in Oly with my spellcasting crew.

Tomu, Jade, and Luz had lots of playdates and sleepovers, maximizing their time with friends.

and then we had some goodbye parties!
a pickleball one at the Fircrest outdoor courts:

a neighborhood one at Nansies (no photos…boo!)
and a big one at Mo and Devin’s house — thank you for hosting!! and thanks to all for showing up!

Our last night in the States we had my sister Libby and the 21 month old twins, my brother, sister-in-law and Jasper, and my mom staying at our place!

The last day was sooo frantic — my mom was busily sewing patches on my backpack and wiping down dresser drawers. We were literally packing and cleaning until we drove away to the airport. My mom came across the street as I was saying bye to our neighbors with my bra & underwear that I’d left in the dresser!
