We left sv evi at 8 am on June 26th, heading for Bali to catch our flight to Singapore. We drove about an hour, then took a ferry for … 6 hours! Then drove 2.5 hours more to get to our hotel by the airport. It was an exhausting day.

Also, the ferry ride involved an extreme bathroom experience. Jade wanted me to take her to the bathroom. There were three stalls, with a sink in the corner. In order to cross the bathroom to get into a stall, we had to time it and run between the 3 inches of water that was sloshing back and forth as the ferry swayed in the waves. This water came overflowing from the stalls, because in this predominantly Muslim country, people don’t use TP, they use water and their left hand to wash after using the toilet. Also, while we were making a dash for it, a woman was throwing up into the bathroom sink.
In Singapore we stayed for 4 nights in a tiny Airbnb. The kids were like, uh, what are we doing here? We want to go home to Tacoma. But we had a fabulous time. We checked out Gardens by the Bay, two huge domes full of flowers, succulents, and fake dinosaurs. We went to parks and spray parks, went up the Super Tree observatory and watched a light show. And the food! I had one day on my own to explore Little India and Chinatown. I loved the Chinatown Heritage Centre. Here are some photos.
