Hats, Clips and More Dhal Please

One of Wade’s two favorite activities on Guava is standing on the nav table and pulling all of the baseball caps off of the ship’s bell where they are stored. Then he likes to ring the bell. Whenever we are down below his gaze drifts to the hats, his eyes light up, and he starts making his excited noises.

His other favorite activity is grabbing onto the safety netting, pulling himself up to standing and holding on the lifeline, and pulling the clothespins off the line. Then he drops them, then bends down to get them again. We have to take care that he doesn’t drop them overboard–I think we are leaving a trail of clothespins like breadcrumbs around Fiji.

Wade’s favorite food is dhal soup. He first had it in Savu Savu at our favorite Indian restaurant. I bought a dhal soup mix and have been making it in the pressure cooker for him. One morning he hadn’t had dhal in a few days, and he proceeded to eat a whole cup of it! After having eaten eggplant. He cried every time I went below to fill up the container with more dhal.

Riki has taken to calling Wade “Moredahl Moclips”.

Oh, and Wade also loves climbing. He is always looking up and wanting to get higher, wanting to grab what’s above him. Maybe because I climbed so much with him in utero? 🙂
