Hanoi, Vietnam

The food in Vietnam was spectacular! So fresh and so delicious. I got addicted to iced coconut coffee, which came blended Frappuchino style.

In Hanoi we had an Airbnb in the Old French Quarter — there was so much happening there all the time. Cars, scooters, pedicabs, and pedestrians all in the narrow streets with no sidewalks. I was surprised by how much of life happened on the street in Hanoi: people chopped meat, cooked pho for breakfast, sold vegetables…

Inside our Airbnb

We had a delicious dinner (bun cha!) at Thu and Josh’s apartment. Thu and Ma worked together in the International District in Seattle years ago. Tomu, Jade, and Luz played with Thu’s daughters, Vivi and Sophia. Another day Thu took Ma and I out to dinner (the kids were at a board game cafe), and yet another day Thu and I had lunch and coffee after Ma flew home. It was a treat for me to get to know Thu better. Ma has a knack for having friends that are younger than me!
