This year we doubled our visit time to the States from 5 weeks to 10 weeks. It felt more sane this go-round. We got to have one-on-one quality time with friends, lots of family time, and do some camping and backpacking. I flew with the three kiddos on June 11th. Riki stayed 12 days longer on the boat to work on projects. I failed to realize that I didn’t have four seats together, so Jade and Luz were together 5 rows back from Tomu and I. It was a 15 hour flight, and they didn’t need me at all!

Mo picked the kids and I up at the airport in SeaTac on June 12th. They rolled up with music pumping, party lights on, and sporting a welcome sign.

We had a fun weekend in Tacoma at Mo and Devin’s house: hiking in Point Defiance, grilling in the backyard, and taking a Met Market picnic to the library grass.

Then Ma picked us up, and we spent about 10 days in Port Townsend in Ma’s ADU behind Weston and Justine’s house. We had so much fun! We went camping at Sol Duc with Justine’s parents and sister Leia. It is a dreamy spot, right by the river, and private because you are in the group camp site. The kids jumped on the trampoline a ton. We visited the free store, where the girls got high heels and fancy dresses. I joined everyone in their exercise of choice: pickleball with Weston in the early mornings, zumba with Justine and Ma, pilates with Libby. We went to the annual Port Townsend Polka Dot Dance. Libby and I got to have a morning of sister time, hiking at the Big Quilcene River trail. Weston found a huge make-up kit in the high school dumpster. Lucky for Jade, she has her auntie Justine to play dress-up and put on make-up with!
