Santa Fe

Next stop on our summer visit was two weeks in Santa Fe, where we visited Susha, Christy, and their kids Espe & Willie. After a few days, Susha and Christy went on a special trip to Portland. Ma and I were on with 5 kids for 6 days! It went really smoothly. The kids decided they wanted to cook dinner one night (including appetizers and dessert!). They went grocery shopping with me where I sent them on missions in teams of two to find the ingredients we needed.

We had blast in Santa Fe! We went bowling twice, went to Tiff’s Pride sermon at her church, went hiking in the mountains with Grandma, played marble track, puzzled, played pickleball, family soccer, and ping pong, celebrated Susha’s birthday, went swimming twice…Jade, Luz, and Espe attended the Queen Bee bluegrass camp. The girls learned guitar, and Espe did banjo for the second year. They had so much fun! They want to do it again next year. 🙂 They had a concert at the end of the week. It was impossible not to cry, seeing Luz up there singing and strumming her heart out, proud as punch.

Ma had the idea that the kids should make a play for Susha’s birthday. Jade immediately took on the role of director. She had so much fun — I hope to enroll her in a theater camp next summer. Tomu and Luz went to chess club one evening at the library. Susha wanted to sing in three part harmony for her birthday. So we did! That was a first for me, and it was so powerful and joyful.
